The route
Day 1 (Saturday 6th August). The start area at Ljungskile. See map below. Turn off the E6 motorway via North or South exits then drive parallel with the E6 in the same direction as your original heading. Cross the E6 towards ‘Småbåtshamn’ and ‘Kajak testcenter’. Follow the road until you reach a large gravelled area and park your vehicle there. Consider that many other vehicles will arrive so please park close to the next vehicle to allow room for everyone. Unload and carry your kayak to the front of the club house and leave it on the terrace, on the beach, or by the docks close by. (Again, please leave it close to the next kayak to allow room for all). It’s also ok to leave your kayak on the sailing club launching ramp.

There is a ‘Skipper’s’ meeting at 07:00 on the ocean side of the club house. The race starts at 08:00. The reason for the meeting is for everyone to synchronise watches (for an explanation see ‘rules’), and for a general and short brief. The route choice out to Vallerö, is completely free, but you must paddle in an clockwise route, i.e., round the south side of Orust (opposite direction compared to last year), and Bassholmen must be passed on the north and west side on day two. The reason for passing Bassholmen by this route is simply because it’s so much more scenic to paddle − instead of the east side of Flatön! The finish line is the large beach on Vallerö, see map below.

There will be no buoys or other markings at the start line; neither will there be a starting official with a starting pistol. Instead there will be an imaginary line from the floating jetty westwards in front of the club house. When the clock shows 08:00 it’s time to paddle =)

Route map − day 1. Note that you may paddle whatever route wish between the start and finish, as long as you pass the south side of Orust. Minimum paddling distance is 48km.

The Finish line day 1 and start point for day 2, the beach on Vallerö. When you land at Vallerö, record your arrival time, right down to the last second, on a piece of paper. (Otherwise it’s easy to forget when you’re tired). Locate the tent with a reflective vest displayed outside and fill in your time in the entry list that’s located inside. (Write clearly!) If you’ve paddled at a fast pace, it may not be for certain that the entry list has arrived before you. As a precaution, save your piece of paper with your recorded time until the list arrives. A large communal campfire will be started in the evening where we all can meet and socialise. Toilets close to the campsite will be provided..

Day 2 start is from the beach at Vallerö. You can start any time you want between 07:00 and 11:00. The finish line is in Ljungskile at the same place you started the previous day.

Day 2. West and North sides of Bassholmen must be passed. A minimum paddling distance of 52km.

When you land on the beach at Ljungskile, write your arrival time, again to the last second, on a piece of paper. Then fill in your start and finish times on the entry list hanging on the outside wall of the club house. If you’ve paddled at a fast pace, it may not be certain that the entry list has arrived before you, so save your piece of paper as a precaution. At 17:00 the prize ceremony and Lottery for the sponsors prizes starts.
