Why?
It began with a question from me to the paddlers who follow Utsidans forum. I wanted a race that had the following criteria:

- Long distance
-Ocean environment
-Camping included and the need to pack provisions.
-Created and designed by all who take part.
-Without officials, and having as few rules as possible.
-For both recreational and elite paddlers

To make it possible for as many people as possible to take part and paddle around Orust, the race must also offer sheltered water for those who choose to use it.

Due to a strong common interest from other paddlers, we decided to run it together.

I will also point out that it’s not only I alone who put this race together. I only planted the idea, which was then processed by a number of other people participating in discussions on the Utsidan forum. This is a paddler’s race and I’ve only summarised what we all have decided. It’s a fantastic achievement from all involved and committed to the task of arranging this event.
